U.S. House Speaker Breaks with Trump: Demands Full Release of Epstein Files

U.S. House Speaker Turns on Trump, Calls for Release of Epstein Files

For years, the name Jeffrey Epstein has hovered like a dark cloud over American politics, whispering rumors, fueling conspiracy theories, and hinting at a network of powerful figures entangled in unspeakable secrets. Now, that storm cloud just thundered inside the Republican Party.

In a move that stunned Washington insiders, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson—a longtime ally of President Donald Trump—has publicly called on the former president to release concealed Epstein-related documents. The demand, made during a podcast with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, signals the first major crack in Trump’s otherwise loyal support base.

“It’s a very delicate subject,” Speaker Johnson admitted. “But we should put everything out there and let the people decide.”

His comments came just days after Trump himself launched into a furious tirade on Truth Social, accusing the Left of orchestrating what he now calls the “Epstein Hoax”—an attack aimed not just at Democrats but indirectly at his own allies for even entertaining the topic.

But for Johnson, the political cost of silence is beginning to outweigh the risks of exposure. “I agree with the sentiment that we need to put it out there,” he said, directly challenging Trump’s latest attempts to downplay the Epstein matter. He then turned his attention to Attorney General Pam Bondi, a Trump loyalist, who has repeatedly claimed she possesses Epstein-related documents.

“She needs to come forward and explain that to everybody,” Johnson urged. “We need the DOJ focusing on the major priorities. So let’s get this thing resolved.”

One Vote Away

The call for transparency reached a boiling point when Democrats brought forward a vote in the House to force the public release of Epstein’s files. The measure failed—by just one vote.

211 to 210.

One Republican vote could have tipped the scales. And the deciding vote? Far-right Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene—who has loudly advocated for Epstein transparency—voted against it.

When asked, Greene claimed she wants a private viewing of the files before releasing them to the public. But critics aren’t buying it.

“Wonder why we’re not getting that list,” the Lincoln Project posted on X, accompanied by a photo of Trump smiling beside Epstein.

MAGA vs. MAGA

Trump has long denied any wrongdoing regarding Epstein, despite photographic evidence of them socializing in the 1990s. He claims to have cut ties with Epstein after a “falling out” and has called any suggestion of his involvement a smear by the Radical Left.

But the political tides are shifting. Speaker Johnson’s comments reflect growing unease inside Trump’s own camp—a sentiment that MAGA loyalists have begun echoing, especially online.

Trump, however, is not backing down.

In a new Truth Social post, he called the renewed attention to Epstein “the new SCAM” and lashed out at his “past supporters” for buying into “bulls–t.” He compared the Epstein files to the Steele Dossier, the Russia hoax, and Hunter Biden’s laptop, dismissing it all as political theater.

But even as he tries to pivot back to campaign messaging—border security, energy dominance, election integrity—the Epstein issue refuses to die.

Where Are the Files?

For months, the administration has promised new Epstein documents. Attorney General Bondi herself claimed she had files “sitting on her desk.”

But nothing new has emerged.

No bombshells. No names. No revelations.

Just silence—and now, internal division.

As the pressure mounts and the 2024 election looms, the Republican Party finds itself in a political tug-of-war: between protecting its figurehead and confronting a scandal that refuses to disappear.

One thing is clear: the Epstein files have become more than just paperwork. They are now a litmus test for transparency, accountability—and loyalty.
