Trump Calls Epstein Allegations a “Hoax,” Slams GOP Critics as “Weaklings”

Washington, D.C. — Former President Donald Trump dismissed recent controversy over the Justice Department’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents, calling it a “hoax” and “bulls***” while publicly criticizing Republicans in his own party for demanding more transparency.

In a Truth Social post early Wednesday, Trump drew parallels between the Epstein uproar and other politically charged investigations, including the probe into Russian interference during his 2016 campaign and the Hunter Biden laptop story.

“These Scams and Hoaxes are all the Democrats are good at — It’s all they have,” Trump wrote. “They are no good at governing, no good at policy, and no good at picking winning candidates. Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker.”

Trump’s post marked one of his most direct efforts yet to downplay the ongoing calls for more public disclosure of Epstein-related files. The late financier, convicted of sex trafficking, died in federal custody in 2019 under circumstances that continue to draw widespread suspicion.

Trump’s remarks come amid growing dissent within the Republican Party. Several high-profile GOP lawmakers and conservative media figures have expressed concern over a recent internal Justice Department memo that stated no “client list” was found and no evidence emerged that Epstein had blackmailed public officials.

Speaking later at the White House, Trump reiterated his view that the controversy is overblown.

“They’re wasting their time with a guy who obviously had some very serious problems, who died three, four years ago,” Trump told reporters. “I’d rather talk about the success we have with the economy… Instead, they want to talk about the Epstein hoax.”

Pressed on whether he would support a special prosecutor for the case, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Thursday that, “The president would not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case. That’s how he feels.”

The Justice Department memo has reignited a rift between senior law enforcement officials and the White House. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reportedly clashed with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the agency’s approach, and some conservatives have publicly demanded Bondi’s resignation. Trump, however, has stood by Bondi, stating that she has “handled it very well.”

Meanwhile, congressional Republicans remain divided. Two legislative attempts this week to force the release of additional documents failed to gain traction, blocked by GOP leadership.

Still, key Trump allies have voiced support for full disclosure. House Speaker Mike Johnson said during an interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson that he supports making all related information public.

“It’s a very delicate subject, but you should put everything out there, let the people decide it,” said Speaker Johnson. “Pam Bondi needs to come forward and explain it to the American people.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) added that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, should be called to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Trump has continued to try to downplay the controversy, calling the matter “pretty boring stuff” during a recent press conference.

“He’s [Epstein] been dead a long time, he was never a big factor in terms of life,” Trump said. “I don’t understand the fascination.”

Despite Trump’s dismissive tone, public interest remains high, fueled by suspicions that Epstein’s connections to powerful figures have yet to be fully revealed. Critics argue that transparency is necessary to restore public trust.

For now, the issue continues to widen the divide between Trump’s loyalists, party moderates, and transparency advocates — raising questions about how much further the GOP is willing to go to shield or investigate one of the most controversial criminal cases in recent memory.
