Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2? Billion-Dollar Rematch on the Table—If Manny Wins Saturday
The boxing world may soon witness a second clash between two of the sport’s greatest legends.
According to new reports, a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is once again being discussed—and it could become the most lucrative bout in boxing history.
The two icons last met in the highly anticipated “Fight of the Century” in 2015, which Mayweather won by decision. Despite the fight being criticized for its lack of action, it shattered records, generating over $600 million in revenue.
For years, fans begged for a second chapter—but with both fighters stepping away from professional boxing, it seemed unlikely. That is, until now.
On Saturday night in Las Vegas, Pacquiao makes his full professional return to the ring, facing WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. If he pulls off an upset win, talks for a rematch with Mayweather could explode into reality.
“Conversations are already happening,” a source close to Mayweather’s camp told boxing journalist Lance Pugmire. “If Manny wins, this rematch could be worth billions.”
The stakes are massive—not just for Pacquiao’s legacy, but for boxing itself. At 45, he would become the oldest welterweight world champion in history if he defeats the 30-year-old Barrios.
And Pacquiao isn’t pulling any punches outside the ring, either. He recently took a jab at Mayweather, saying:
“Floyd was running the whole 12 rounds, and he won the fight. How is that amazing? Fans deserve action, not a fashion show.”
Mayweather, now 47, retired undefeated at 50-0 and has since stayed active only through exhibition matches—facing influencers like Logan Paul and Deji. A full return against Pacquiao, however, would be a far bigger and riskier move.
Still, concerns remain. Pacquiao didn’t impress in his recent exhibition bout with kickboxer Rukiya Anpo, and health questions linger.
But despite their age and past regrets, the fire between ‘Money’ and ‘PacMan’ seems to be rekindling.
The world may not have seen the last of boxing’s most complicated rivalry.
